Moving Day Flood Disaster!
Not all superheroes wear capes. Some carry removal boxes, drink tea and eat all your biscuits.
Yesterday was just another day on the road for one crew, until they arrived at their job to find the house they were about to move in Chicksands, Bedfordshire, under water!
As a company providing both removals and storage, we’ve helped lots of flood victims in the past. Normally we get a call from the insurance company asking us to retrieve items from a home after the flood water has subsided. So it was a huge surprise to Darin and Ciaran to find the homeowners up to their knees in water.

Rolling up their sleeves (and trouser legs) the guys quite literally dived into action, wading through the water to get all the items out of harms way and into the lorry, ready to go to the occupants new home in Salisbury.
But being the outstanding good eggs they are, the guys didn’t stop there. The house was one of 10 to be submerged, and having made sure their clients were ready to roll, Darin and Ciaran then stayed on (well beyond their working hours), to help move the other families in the affected houses.
Pat Carter, our General Manager said, “Both the guys are always incredibly hard working, but we’re really proud of the way the stuck around to help others. They’re a credit to the company.”
Update
Since we posted this story, there’s been a number of comments from families on Trustpilot, thanking the guys for their good deeds.
“Darin and Ciaran were in the middle of moving our neighbours when the whole street was flooded. They immediately came to help us all and went above and beyond, continuing to help until late at night. They were amazing and our community was so grateful.”

“Big shout out to Darin & Ciaran who went above and beyond whilst handling a removal at Chicksands on 23rd. Families were having to leave their homes due to terrible flooding and these guys couldn’t do enough to help, running knee deep in water with their trollies helping to save peoples belongings in the pouring rain.Thank you for all you done.”

“Big shout out to Darin & Ciaran who represented your company in such a massive way when attending a March Out in Chicksands on Mon 23rd Sep 24. The river on site burst its banks and these 2 fine gents stayed and demonstrated selfless commitment in helping all the families affected by the flood. Sleeves up and wading through water over knee deep they moved and assisted family after family and were a credit to not only themselves as human beings, but your brand with a clear message of “above and beyond”. Hats off and massive appreciation deserved.”
